The death of the former baseball player Garrett Anderson has shocked the sports world. Although it was initially thought that he had suffered cardiac arrest, new official investigations have revealed the true cause of death of the historic player of the MLB.

The cause of death of Garrett Anderson was revealed by the authorities. The World Series champion died from a acute necrotizing pancreatitisreported the Orange County Coroner’s Office, as reported by TMZ. He was Fifty three years old at the time of his departure.

Reaction from the Angels and MLB

The Angels and Predominant League Baseball announced that Anderson died “suddenly” in a statement issued on April 17. “The Los Angels team is mourning the loss of one of the most beloved icons of our franchise,” said team owner Arte Moreno, who described the former player as “a cornerstone of the organization over 15 seasons.”

What was known about the medical emergency

Details of Anderson’s medical emergency were not released at the time, but a TMZ report indicated that authorities responded to a call made from the athlete’s residence in Newport Seashore, California. ESPN reported that Anderson’s wife believed, at the time, that he had suffered a heart attack.

Garret Anderson’s legacy in baseball

The Angels remembered the deceased for “his stoic presence on the field and locker room” and stated that “Garret will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans for his professionalism, class and loyalty throughout his career.” Anderson was drafted in 1990 and spent 15 seasons with the Angels before having brief stints with the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was selected as an MLB Individual All-Major in 2002, 2003 and 2005. In 2016, he was inducted into the Los Angels Hall of Fame and during his speech he highlighted the importance of camaraderie. “If you respect your colleagues, support them and give them support when necessary, that means a lot,” he said on that occasion.
