The White House asked the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaumshow “a little empathy” for the two American agents who died during an anti-narcotics operation in Mexico.
“I think the president (Donald Trump) would agree that a little empathy from Claudia Sheinbaum would be worth it for the two American lives that were lost, considering everything the United States is doing,” declared the White House spokeswoman. Karoline Leavittin an interview with Fox News.
Sheinbaum reported this Tuesday that his Government sent a diplomatic note to the United States to demand explanations for the participation of US agents in an operation last Sunday against clandestine laboratories in the state of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, where two American agents and two Mexicans died.
The White House spokeswoman defended that Trump is working to “stop the scourge of drug trafficking that passes through Mexico to the United States.”

“We have seen some cooperation from President Sheinbaum. I think the president always wants to see more cooperation, when what we are doing not only benefits the American people, but also his people,” Leavitt stressed.
The controversy grew when The Washington Post reported that The two Americans allegedly belonged to the CIA and they had intelligently supported an operation against drug trafficking.
Trump has suggested several times the possibility of the United States intervening within Mexican territory against drug trafficking cartels, something that the Sheinbaum Government has rejected to defend the country’s sovereignty.
Sheinbaum declared this Tuesday that the Mexican federal authorities were unaware of the participation of foreign agents in field work.
In addition, he stressed that no state government can establish collaboration on security matters with foreign authorities outside of federal channels.
At first, The Chihuahua state prosecutor declared that the agents were returning from the operationbut later clarified that the Americans did not directly participate in the seizure of the laboratory used by drug traffickers and that they carried out training work.
