In the midst of her busy schedule of work commitments derived from the upcoming premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the actress Anne Hathaway has opened up about the possible future of another of the most anticipated projects by the public: the third installment of “The Princess Diaries.”
According to the famous woman’s statements, the development of this film project continues in process; however, It still does not have the definitive green light from the studio.
Despite this reality, Anne Hathaway remains firm in her decision to promote the project: “100%, we are constantly working on it”he said in an interview with the Entertainment Weekly portal.
The 43-year-old artist confessed that her attention to other professional commitments has influenced the pace and development of the proposal for a third installment of “The Princess Diary.”
According to his story, the filming of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” took priority among his commitments. “It arose unexpectedly and took over the space (…) It became impossible to concentrate on both things at the same time,” he confessed to the media.
However, with the premiere of his film with Meryl Streep scheduled for this May 1, his attention will be focused entirely on the project that gave him international fame with Disney. “Development continues depending on the evolution of the script and production decisions,” he recalled.
“The Princess Diaries” was released in theaters in the United States in August 2001 and, in addition to Anne Hathaway, featured Julie Andrews. This box office hit was directed by the late Garry Marshall and followed the story of a San Francisco student named “Mia Thermopolis” who discovers her claim to the throne of a country called Genovia.
The great acceptance of the public led to a sequel titled “The Princess Diaries 2: Staunch Commitment”, in which the narrative was applied by addressing the responsibilities of the protagonist within the monarchy to which she joined.
It was in October 2024 that Anne Hathaway herself confirmed a third installment of the story through a video shared from her social networks: “Miracles happen. Back to Genovia,” he commented at the time. According to the first reports, the project would be carried out by Disney and it is expected that Adele Lim will be in the direction.
