Accustomed to saying things after they happened and not at the time, the defender of Blue Cross and former Chivas defender, Jesus Orozco Chiquetehe once again relived the frustration he represented in Guadalajara the lost final with Tigres three years ago and blamed coach Veljko Paunovic.
The above was handled by Jesús “Chiquete” Orozco himself through the Wacho 17 podcast, where he spoke about an endless number of topics, such as his injury, the Mexico national team and his presence in Chivas, especially in the grand final of the Clausura 2023 tournament, where he criticized the work of the European strategist.
Orozco did not hesitate to point out that Veljko Paunovic was quick to make the changes, in addition to who considered that changing the game scheme was key to the defeat of the people from Guadalajara in a final where it is remembered that the Tigers ended up dominating the “Sacred Flock”.
“I feel that the changes, I feel that they rushed, they took a while to act, to put in a line of five, because Tigres let themselves come,” declared the former Chivas defender. and who now defends the Cruz Azul shirt.
Chivas in that game had the score at their preferred 2-0 at halftime, after Roberto ‘Piojo’ Alvarado and Víctor ‘Pocho’ Guzmán managed to put the Guadalajara team ahead in what seemed like a sure victory and the path to the long-awaited title for the red and white team.
But Tigres had other plans, since Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac and a goal from Sebastián Córdova in the 71st minute scored the goals that gave victory to the Monterrey squad to reach the tie that sent the game to extra time, where Argentine Guido Pizarro scored the winning goal.
“He took out Vega when he had been the most unbalanced player; “Together with Piojo, up there they were causing a lot of danger and Ronaldo Cisneros was going into space a lot,” Orozco mentioned about the changes.
With the victory, the Tigres obtained their eighth Liga MX title after the comeback against the visiting Rebaño, to place themselves in a leading position among the most successful Mexican soccer teams in the last decade with a team full of players who have left their mark on their organization.
“Many times I think that Tigres’ virtue is not recognized at that time; something that remained very important to me is that, at the end of half time“You see the players gathered together and they are very calm,” said the Mexican soccer player about the final against the cats.
Orozco mentioned that after the defeat there was a bad taste in his mouth about the functioning of the team and is where he once again held the European strategist responsible: “He should have realized the tactical management of the match, but he didn’t,” the player concluded.
