Iran warned this Wednesday that will not allow any type of export or import in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Red Sea if the United States continues its “illegal action” naval blockade of Iranian commercial ships and oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

“If the aggressor and terrorist United States intends to continue with its illegal action of naval blockade (…) The powerful Iranian Armed Forces will not allow the continuity of any type of export nor importation in the region of the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Red Sea,” warned the commander of the Jatam al Anbiya Central Basic Barracks, the popular division Ali Abdolahi, according to the Tasnim agency.

Abdolahi stated that any attempt by Washington to maintain the maritime encirclement in the region would, in practice, constitute a violation of the two-week ceasefire agreed with the US, which came into force last Wednesday.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday that it has begun the blockade of Iran’s ports.as well as that it has “completely paralyzed” the trade that “enters and leaves” the Persian country by sea, which continues today for the second day.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard had already warned, two days before, of the blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz by the US.that military ships approaching the area would be “the subject of a forceful response.”

The passage of ships and tankers through that sea route, through which 20% of the world’s oil trade passes, has been restricted by Tehran since the start of the war on February 28, which has caused a drastic increase in the price of crude oil worldwide.
