The UANL Tigers they scored one of the most important victories over the leader Chivas 4-1 to jump to sixth place in the Clausura 2025 tournament and thus re-enter the league zone for the title, in a match where Argentine Juan Brunetta scored a double.
A victory that allowed the feline squad to wake up against the right opponentsince everyone took it for granted that Guadalajara would be a larger opponent, but that did not matter to the cats to overcome those of the Sacred Flock in a duel on date 14 of the Clausura 2026 tournament.
The three points allowed the cats to get fully into the fight for qualification in a duel that could have changed when the central referee Maximiliano Quintero did not want to signal an expulsion against Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre for a foul on midfielder Fernando González and that would have placed the Sacred Flock in superior circumstances.
That decision marked the fate of the game, because later the feline squad had two goal options in the first minutes, first a shot by Juan Brunetta that Raúl Rangel took in a great wayand another with a header from Búfalo that passed near the second post.
But then Brunetta scored one of the two goals in the 16th minute with whom he collaborated in the match in a play where the Guadalajara goalkeeper, Raúl “Tala” Rangel, made a mistake in a clearance that fell short towards Luis Romo, a situation that Ángel Correa took advantage of to take the ball, give the pass to his teammate and for him to sign the play.
Chivas did not give up and nine minutes later Daniel Aguirre managed to tie the score when he was able to finish off a ball with great class by shooting a high volley that he was able to line up perfectly with a shot where He made him move his body exactly to hit the ball and nest it in the nets in a great center from Bryan González.
But the Tigres were not going to stay with their arms crossed before the first half ended and again with the efforts of the Argentine Ángel Correa, who made his second assist of the match with some dribbles over a defender in the left sector and which allowed him to send a cross to the heart of the area where Rodrigo Aguirre finished off with a header to beat “Tala” Rangel.

The cats returned to the charge, starting the second half with a great play where Ozziel Herrera went down the left side and when he reached the height of the area, he gave the ball to Jesús Angulo so that he could take over and, when he raised his face, he sent a cross on the other side at the entrance of the Argentine Ángel Correa to finish with a header and beat the rojiblanco goalkeeper’s attempt.
The second half had barely started and the cats scored the third goal at minute 46, in a play where Ozziel Herrera stole a ball on the kick-off, went to the area and gave it up to Brunetta to send a cross for Correa to finish at the far post.
The visitor began to play more time in the rival field, but they could not beat Nahuel Guzmán and in the 69th minute there was a counterattack by Brunetta that could have been the fourth. but his shot went over Tala’s goal.
The Argentine defined the result at minute seventy 9in a counterattack on the left wing, where he cut to the center and defined the near post of Tala Rangel, who threw himself at the far post, leaving himself exposed after he hoped that the defenders could avoid the mess.
