The United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegsethassured this Wednesday that the offensive launched by his country against Iran was a “historic victory” that has decimated the forces of the Islamic Republic and reduced its military capacity for “years to come.”
“In less than 40 days, one of our combatant commands, the Central Commandusing less than 10% of the total combat power of the United States, dismantled one of the largest armies in the world,” Hegseth said at a press conference, held a day after the announcement of a two-week ceasefire.
He warned that during “the wave of more than 800 attacks launched last night,” before the temporary cessation of hostilities came into force after more than a month of war, the US. “completed the destruction of the nasty” Iranian defense industry.
The Pentagon chief insisted that Washington unleashed “barely a fraction” of its force to deal Iran “a devastating military defeat,” and affirmed that together with Israel, US forces “achieved all of the planned objectives” in compliance with their schedule.

“Operation ‘Epic Fury’ was a historic victory and overwhelming on the battlefield, a military victory with a capital letter, by any parameter. ‘Epic Fury’ decimated Iran’s military and left it incapable of combat for years to come,” Hegseth insisted.
Regarding the ceasefire agreement and the upcoming negotiations between both nations, he said that the new Government in Tehran “He understood that an agreement was much better than the fate that awaited them.”
The chairman of the American Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Cainespecified that since the beginning of the offensive against Iran, initiated by the US and Israel on February 28, Washington has attacked more than 13,000 targets, including more than 4,000 dynamic targets that suddenly emerged on the battlefield and were “immediately neutralized.”
“We have destroyed approximately 80% of Iran’s air defense systemsattacking more than 1,500 anti-aircraft targets, more than 450 ballistic missile storage facilities and 80 one-way attack drone storage facilities,” Caine added.
He stated that US forces have “devastated the command and control networks, as well as the logistical networks of Iran”destroying more than 2,000 command and control nodes and confirmed that they have sunk more than 90% of the Iranian “regular fleet,” “including all major surface combatants.”
