If you choose the university route (AT-CTI), college programs range from $5,000 to $20,000 per year (approx.). Universities can exceed $20,000–$40,000 annually. It depends on the state, institution and if you are a resident.
How much do you earn
The salary is one of the great attractions: during training, there is a starting salary. As you gain experience, you can exceed $100,000 a year. And, in advanced positions, you can earn more than $150,000.

Basic requirements
To apply to the FAA you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a US citizen
- Be under 31 years old (in most calls)
- Pass medical and psychological exams
- Pass aptitude tests
How long does the whole process take?
This is the point that many underestimate. From the moment you apply until you start working, it can take between 6 months to more than 1 year. The process includes evaluations, selection and training.
But there are many vacancies open and it is a good opportunity. The FAA faces retirements, lack of deepest at certain airports and long training processes. This opens up opportunities, but it does not mean that entry is easy.
