Jamie Raskin, representative of Maryland, questioned Donald Trump’s cognitive abilities and therefore, Through a letter, he requested the intervention of Sean Barbabella, a Navy captain who serves as the president’s official physician, with the aim of subjecting him to a complete evaluation.
The argument made by the Democratic congressman through a letter is that the 79-year-old conservative’s words and actions in recent months, specifically those related to the war against Iran, have raised doubts about his mental acuity.
“Experts have repeatedly warned that the president has been showing signs consistent with dementia and cognitive decline. And, in recent days, The country has seen President Trump’s public statements and outbursts become increasingly incoherent, volatile, profane, unhinged and threatening.” indicates part of the document.
Likewise, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee has requested that the cognitive test be conducted by April 25 and that the results be made public
“At a time when our country is at war, especially when the war was started by the president without the declaration or consent of Congress, The American people must be able to trust that the commander in chief has the mental capacity to perform the essential functions of his office.
“Both Republicans and Democrats have recognized that the president’s cognitive fitness is a matter of urgent and essential public interest, and that it warrants rigorous oversight by Congress,” he emphasized.
In response, Davis Ingle, White House spokesperson, attacked the representative from Maryland, whom he reproached for not having raised his voice at the time to demand a cognitive test from Joe Biden who, in his view, was indeed ill.
“Jamie Raskin, a nobody, is the image that a stupid person has of an intelligent person.
“President Trump’s wit, unmatched energy and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw over the past four years, when Democrats like Raskin intentionally covered up Joe Biden’s serious mental and physical deterioration from the American people,” he said.
