The Atlanta Braves beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-2 in a duel that took place at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. But the scene that caught the spotlight in this meeting was the fight between the Dominican Reynaldo López and the Cuban Jorge Soler. Both players unleashed the first big brawl of the 2026 Major League season.

The fight and discomfort seems to have arisen out of nowhere, but it was a conflict that little by little escalated. In the first inning, Jorge Soler hit a solo home run off Reynaldo López.

In his second at-bat, Jorge Soler could not stand at the plate normally. Reynaldo López hit him with a straight pitch that reached 96 mph. The deepest duel between the two was already beginning to heat up.

For the fifth inning the third spherical between these two players would arrive. With the account favorable to the Cuban, Reynaldo López made a high and tight pitch that ultimately became a wild pitch as it was not controlled by the catcher.

I asked him if everything was okay and I didn’t like the answer he gave me. That’s why I went there“said Jorge Soler about this incident. Reynaldo López would not throw another ball. The Atlanta Braves player went straight to face him and Both began to exchange blows near the mound.

Obviously, Reynaldo López and Jorge Soler were immediately sent off by the main Vic Carapazza. Official statements from the MLB are still awaited to determine the degree of harshness of the sanctions.
