That’s where the new Land Cruiser FJ appears, the smallest variant of the historic Japanese off-road family.

The brand decided to preserve the adventurous spirit of its best-known models, although in a much more practical format for everyday use. The result is a compact SUV with a robust appearance, more contained dimensions and several elements designed for those who enjoy escaping from routine.

Toyota account for this project under the concept of “Freedom and Pleasure”a philosophy that seeks to combine freedom of movement with fun off the asphalt. For now, the model will initially be available in Japan, although speculation is already beginning about a future arrival in other markets, including the United States.
More compact, but just as prepared
The great differential of the Land Cruiser FJ is in its proportions. Toyota developed it to offer easier driving in urban spaces without losing off-road capabilities.
The SUV measures 4,575 millimeters longa much smaller figure compared to the Land Cruiser 250. This significantly improves maneuverability on narrow streets, complicated trails and small parking lots.
The Japanese brand made it clear that the more compact size does not mean losing resistance. The FJ maintains a ladder frame structure, a classic solution in vehicles prepared to withstand demanding terrain. Visually, the Land Cruiser FJ opts for a square and muscular image that is reminiscent of the brand’s more traditional models.
The flared fenders, rear spare wheel and straight lines give it a lot of personality. Headlights with a “U” shaped light signature also appear. and some details inspired by traditional Japanese geometric figures.

Simple engine and practical approach
Under the hood appears a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that develops 163 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque. It does not seek to break acceleration records, but it does seek to offer mechanical reliability and low maintenance costs.
The Huge ECT six-speed automatic transmission was calibrated for smoothness in the city and greater precision off-road.
Besides, Toyota incorporated specific assistants for off-road driving, including downhill alter, hill assist, electronic rear differential lock and advanced traction systems.
An SUV designed for everyday life
Although its adventurous approach is very marked, the Land Cruiser FJ also wants to function as a family vehicle.
