The actress Demi Moore has joined the group of artists who have shared their position on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in artistic disciplines such as cinema. During her time at the Cannes Festival, this edition’s jury member explained that going against her is useless, so it is necessary to find safe ways to work with her.

It was in the middle of the opening press conference of the Seventy 9th edition of the festival that the protagonist of “The Substance” opened up about the issue that has divided opinions in Hollywood in recent years.

In this regard, the 63-year-old famous woman expressed: “AI is already here. To fight it is to fight something that is a battle we will lose. So finding ways to work with it, I think, is a more valuable path.”

In this sense, Moore emphasized the need to protect the creative work of each member that makes the creation of audiovisual content possible: “Are we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don’t know. I don’t have the answer to that, and my inclination would be to say probably not,” he said.alco

The Oscar nominee stated that regardless of the ground that AI has gained in recent years in all areas of daily life, human creativity and warmth are irreplaceable elements in art.

“The truth is that there is nothing to fear, because what AI can never replace is where true art comes from, which is not the physical,” he sentenced. “It comes from the soul. It comes from the spirit of each one of us who creates every day. And you will never be able to recreate that through something technical.”

At the same press conference, the actor addressed questions about freedom of expression in art in the midst of a tense political environment: “Part of art is expression. If we start censoring ourselves, we close the core of our creativity, which is where we can discover the truth and the answers,” he concluded.

Along with Demi Moore, the other members of the jury of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival appeared, headed by Park Chan-wook. They are accompanied by the Irish actress Ruth Negga; the Ivorian actor Isaach de Bankolé; Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård; the Belgian director Laura Wandel; the Chilean director and screenwriter Diego Céspedes; Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao, and Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty.

The latter did not hesitate to point out the risks that come with the unregulated use of AI: “What seems absolutely incredible to me is that they do it and then assume that the rest of the world will follow and accept it, regardless of the consequences (…) We have to look at the entire crisis: how data factories affect sustainability, water, populations,” he urged.
