Enrique Diaz Vegaformer Secretary of Administration and Finance of Rubén Rocha Moya, licensed governor of Sinaloa, surrendered to US authorities.
According to the first reports, Díaz Vega would have been detained in Europe, after he was identified in the United States for alleged links with the Sinaloa Cartelalong with Ruben Rocha Moya and eight other Mexican officials.
With this, he became the second person close to Rocha Moya who is already in the hands of American justice.
For almost three years, Díaz Vega was responsible for key issues for the state administration, including financial planning, budget management and management of Sinaloa’s public debt.
He held the position from the beginning of the Rocha Moya administration and submitted his resignation in February 2024, arguing his desire to resume his private activities and manage his real estate companies.
According to the judicial file, he would have facilitated payments, political protection and delivery of information about opponents to members of Los Chapitos.
The objective, according to the accusation, was for the criminal group to threaten those political rivals to force them to abandon the electoral contest.
He is also mentioned as part of a structure that allegedly helped protect fentanyl, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine trafficking operations.
