Biology teacher in Georgia is accused of having sexual relations with a student at school

A Georgia biology teacher was arrested after being accused of having sexual relations with one of her students on at least two occasions, one of them within the facilities of the school where he worked.

Maris Nichols, 25, of Douglasville, faces two counts of sexual assault by a person having supervisory or disciplinary authority, according to court orders cited by Dayli Mail.

The authorities point out that Nichols worked at Alexander High College and that the student involved was attending his third period class.

Authorities point to two alleged encounters

According to court documents, Nichols and the student allegedly had sexual relations inside a school closet on April 23.

Investigators also maintain that the two met again on May 2 inside a black Hummer H2 truck parked at the end of the driveway of a home in Douglasville.

The student’s name has not been released because he is a minor.

Nichols was arrested Friday and later released on $40,000 bail.

The Douglas County School System informed parents that it is “deeply concerned” about the allegations and confirmed the opening of an internal investigation.

“Student safety is the district’s top priority. The alleged conduct is unacceptable and violates the professional standards that all employees must adhere to,” the district said in a statement.

Until now, It has not been clarified whether Nichols remains employed by the educational institution.

In addition to teaching biology, Nichols also served as operations manager for the school’s football team, according to his LinkedIn profile, which was later deleted.
