Chrysler seems determined to regain space in a market where economical vehicles are once again attracting attention. The American firm, which in recent years concentrated a good part of its strategy on the Pacifica, would now have a project underway designed for those looking for a new car without spending a fortune.

The information began to gain strength after different reports indicated that the company showed dealers a concept called Soon. The proposal would be focused on offering a compact vehicle with an initial price close to $20,000 dollars, a figure that today is very competitive within the United States.

The initiative also reflects an important change within Stellantisownership group of Chryslerwhich would be looking to expand the offering of accessible models in several of its brands.
A new approach for Chrysler
At the moment, Chrysler’s range is quite limited and revolves mainly around the Pacifica. However, the brand left clear signs of renewal with the update presented for the Pacifica 2027 and now everything indicates that it wants to once again seduce young buyers and families with tighter budgets.
According to data published by The Detroit Newscompany executives presented the Pronto project to distributors during private meetings last year. Although there is still no official confirmation about its arrival in production, the movement made it clear that the idea is being seriously evaluated.

What the Chrysler Pronto could be like
For now, technical information remains scarce, although several sources agree that it would be a compact or subcompact model. Some analysts even believe that it could become a small SUVone of the fastest growing segments in North America.
The logic behind that decision is pretty clear. Consumers continue to prioritize practical vehicles, with good fuel efficiency and enough space for everyday use. Chrysler could take advantage of that trend with a product designed for the city, short trips and users looking for their first new car.
Furthermore, a price close to $20,000 dollars It would put it in an attractive position against very established rivals in the market.
Stellantis wants to expand the strategy
The project would not be exclusive to Chrysler. According to the same reports, distributors also had access to similar concepts linked to Jeep and Dodge. The group’s intention would be to develop smaller, more accessible models to expand the reach of its brands in the United States.

The strategy comes in a context where the prices of new vehicles have grown significantly and more and more buyers are finding it difficult to access zero-kilometer options.
The name Pronto is not a coincidence either. Chrysler already used that name on several prototypes from the late 1990s. Among them appeared the 1997 Plymouth Pronto and the 1999 Pronto Cruizer, a conceptual model that ended up inspiring the famous PT Cruiser.
