The long and media judicial confrontation among the protagonists of “It Ends With Us”, Blake Active and Justin Baldoni, has encountered a new and unexpected obstacle.
Even though Both actors recently reached an agreement to avoid a jury triala final disagreement about the payment of legal fees keeps the process active, and the judge’s most recent decision has been a setback for Active’s strategy.
This week, The magistrate in charge of the case formally denied the request of the actress’s upright teamwhich intended to introduce additional documentation before the final resolution.
The judge was blunt in declaring that does not consider it necessary to receive further evidence from either partyclosing the door for Active to strengthen its arguments for Baldoni to assume the costs of his defense.
A bittersweet agreement
The conflict, which began with accusations of sexual harassment and smear campaigns, has been deflating in the courts after the agreement signed on May 4.
Although Specific terms are kept strictly confidential.it is known that the pact did not include million-dollar financial compensation and that both actors waived their right to appeal.
However, Active insists on recovering the millions of dollars invested in lawyers after 16 months of litigation.
For its part, Baldoni’s team, led by lawyer Bryan Freedman, has described the outcome as a “complete victory.”especially after the court previously dismissed the most serious accusations for lack of technical evidence.
