Trump ordered the opening of classified files on UFOs and now we can see what the government hid for decades

The United States government did something that seemed impossible for decades. He opened hundreds of classified documents to the public ufos. And the files do not disappoint.

This is the most significant declassification of unidentified aerial phenomena in recent history. The cloth includes videos recorded in war zones, testimonies from FBI agents and even a conversation between astronauts who saw inexplicable things floating near their ship in 1972.

The move was promoted by the president donald trump in early 2026. Everything is available to anyone in the world, without credentials or authorizations, on the official portal struggle.gov/ufowhere the government promised to continue publishing files progressively.

Orbs, impossible lights and objects that make 90 degree turns

The first batch includes 162 secret files with photographs, military records, videos and reports from different federal agencies. Among them the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, NASA, the FBI and the AARO, the office created in 2022 specifically to track this type of phenomena.

One of the documents that attracted the most attention relates the testimony of seven federal agents from separate teams who independently reported seeing multiple unidentified aerial phenomena over the western United States over two days in 2023.

The descriptions are disturbing. Several of the agents said they had seen “orbs that launched other orbs”a large shiny sphere suspended in the air and a semi-transparent object that one of them compared to a “translucent kite.”

Another file, dated January 1, 2026describes an Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon (UAP) flying low over the sea in Greece. The object was making sharp 90-degree turns at an estimated speed of 130km/hsomething that no conventional aircraft could execute with that precision. There is a video that captures that point moving over the Mediterranean Sea.

That cases appear in active war zones completely changes the weight of what is being seen. There are internal military memos documenting a possible small UAP detected in Iraq in 2022 and multiple flashes of unknown origin observed in Syria in 2024. It is not astronomical curiosity. It is a matter of national security.

The 1972 recording that NASA kept silent for decades

One of the most impressive finds in the entire collection is a transcript of a conversation between the astronauts of the Apollo 17 mission during his trip to space in 1972.

In that recording, the crew members describe how they saw very bright particles and fragments floating near their ship while they maneuvered.

“There are a lot of big lights in my window below, they are very bright. From Ron’s window it looks like the 4th of July,” said one of the astronauts when maintaining an eye fixed on the mission, according to the document.

NASA did not offer a definitive explanation at the time. For decades that conversation remained in classified archives, out of reach of the public. It is now available to anyone who wants to read it.

The documents also include less redacted versions than those previously reported by the FBI, with details that were previously hidden. According to the Pentagon, the cloth was reviewed by intelligence agencies, but with a clear premise: “the American people have the right to see it for themselves,” as declared by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

Trump ordered declassification of information about UFOs

It is not the first time that the Pentagon has made public materials about sightings. In April 2020, the Department of Defense declassified three short videos recorded by military pilots, one from 2004 and two from 2015. Those clips, known as “FLIR1,” “Gimbal,” and “GoFast,” showed objects moving at speeds and with maneuvers impossible to replicate with conventional technology. They had circulated without authorization on the cyber web since 2007.

But 2026 is different in scale and origin. It does not respond to a leak or media pressure. It is a direct presidential order. The volume of material is much larger, the sources are more diverse and include testimonies from deepest active military personnel, astronauts and federal field agents.

The political context also matters. Trump’s decision came, in part, in response to statements by the former president Barack Obama in a podcast, where he admitted that unidentified aerial phenomena “are real,” although he clarified that he had no evidence of extraterrestrial contact. Trump accused him of revealing classified information and then ordered the files to be opened.
