tesla reignited the expectation around the roadsterone of the most emblematic models in its history. Although the electric sports car has been surrounded by promises and delays for years, a new move by the company made it clear that the project is still alive and that it could have a much more important role within the brand.

The novelty appeared through a recent registration made by Tesla, where the name “Roadster” appears accompanied by a completely different logo than the one currently used by other vehicles of the firm. The detail did not go unnoticed among the brand’s followers, especially because the model was presented as a technological revolution from the first moment.

The custom Roadster was the vehicle with which Tesla began to become known worldwide. Launched in 2008, that electric sports car made a difference in a time when electric cars still seemed like a distant experiment.. However, production problems and complications with Lotus, supplier of the atrocious structure used in the model, ended up affecting its continuity.

The Roadster wants to separate itself from the rest of Tesla

Production of the first Roadster ended in 2012 with several special units called Final Edition. From that moment on, Tesla concentrated its efforts on more accessible and larger volume models, such as the Mannequin Swhich ended up becoming a key piece for the growth of the company.

Years later, in 2018, Elon Musk announced a second generation of the Roadster and promised figures that seemed impossible even by today’s standards. Since then, the sports car has become one of Tesla’s most anticipated projects, although without concrete progress for the public.

Now, the new trademark registration seems to confirm that the company wants to give the Roadster its own identity. The exposed logo shows an inverted hexagonal shield accompanied by vertical lines in the irascible part, while the name “Roadster” appears with a much more futuristic and elegant typography.

Besides, Tesla registered this emblem for different product categories, including vehicles, chargers, batteries and even clothing. This strategy is quite reminiscent of what happened with the Cybertruck, a model that was also visually separated from the rest of the traditional Tesla range.

Tesla aims to turn it into a technological icon

Everything indicates that the next roadster It will not be simply another vehicle within the brand’s catalog. The idea seems to focus on transforming it into a kind of technological and extreme performance symbol, something that clearly differentiates it from models like the Mannequin 3, Mannequin Y or Mannequin

Even Elon Musk has insisted several times that the future Roadster will have features that are difficult to match. According to his statements, The sports car could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than a second, a figure that still generates debate within the automotive industry.

Although that goal sounds exaggerated, Tesla already managed to get pretty close with the Mannequin S Plaid, capable of performing the same acceleration in around 1.9 seconds. For this reason, many believe that the brand still has several surprises related to the development of the new sports car.

Features that still seem from another planet

The Roadster was also touted as a vehicle capable of exceeding 250 mph top speed and offering more than 620 miles of range on a single charge. If it finally achieves those numbers, it would become one of the most impressive electric cars ever made.

For now, Tesla has not confirmed an official launch date or definitive details about its production. Even so, the registration of the new imprint left a clear feeling among fans of the brand.

The Roadster is still on the way and Tesla wants its return to have a much stronger personality than before.
