A Hispanic woman from East Los Angeles, convicted of the murder of her 4-year-old daughter, She was sentenced this Friday to a sentence of between 25 years and life in prison..
María del Refugio Ávalos, 40, was found guilty on March 19 by a jury in downtown Los Angeles on one count of second-degree murder and one count of assault on a minor resulting in death.
Jurors had notified Judge Karla D. Kerlin of the Los Angeles County Superior Court that They could not agree on the special verdict that the crime was committed voluntarily, deliberately and with premeditation.
