New York City Police arrested Jakhongir Sattorov, 38, accused of sexually attacking a 59-year-old woman inside his apartment in the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the man was charged on Saturday with three counts of rape, two counts of assault, obstruction of breathing and criminal damage.
The victim claimed that the attacker was his neighbor
According to authorities, the attack occurred on Friday around 8:30 pm at a home located near the intersection of 15th Avenue and 71st Street.
Preliminary research maintains that Jakhongir Sattorov allegedly broke down the door of the victim’s apartment and demanded to have sexual relations with her.
When the woman refused, the suspect allegedly hit her, strangled her and carried out the sexual assault inside the building.
Police sources told Fresh York Submit that the victim declared that he knew the attacker and claimed that he was his neighbor.
The woman was taken to the sanatorium
The woman reported the incident to the police at approximately 11:15 pm and was subsequently transported to the NYU Langone Sanatorium—Brooklyn, formerly known as Lutheran Sanatorium.
The authorities reported that The victim was in stable condition after receiving medical attention.
Throughout Saturday, NYPD detectives, Special Victims Unit agents and forensic specialists remained at the scene collecting evidence.
Police initially confirmed there was a “person of interest” in custody before formally announcing the arrest of Jakhongir Sattorov.
The case remains under investigation.
