A woman identified as 42-year-old Ashley Rogers was arrested in the city of Citadel Wayne, Indiana, after Police officers found his three children living in extreme unsanitary conditions inside a home allegedly covered in black mold, animal feces and accumulated garbage.

According to court documents cited by the Day-to-day Mail, the events occurred on April 30, when officers went to the home after receiving a report related to a minor who was threatening to harm herself.

The house had mold, garbage and remains of feces

Upon arriving at the scene, officers with the Citadel Wayne Police Department found a scene they described as alarming. According to the report, The property had large amounts of waste, remains of dog feces, deteriorated walls, damaged windows and no running water.

The authorities also indicated that the refrigerator was unplugged, with rotting food insidewhile several rooms were covered in dirty clothes, trash and moldy objects.

In the basement, officers found a laundry area allegedly covered in black mold and piles of accumulated clothing almost two feet high.

The mother would have minimized the situation

According to the police statement, Rogers was contacted by phone while officers remained at the home. The report maintains that The woman showed little concern for the emotional state of her 17-year-old daughter.who had allegedly expressed intentions of self-harm.

When he finally returned to the house, Rogers would have stated that the teenager “no longer has his responsibility” and expressed his intention to leave the place again, leaving the minors in the care of the young woman’s boyfriend.

The authorities indicated that one of the children stated that he and his younger sister lived in the house with their mother. However, the police investigation concluded thate Rogers allegedly had not been constantly in the house for months.

Police reported that the 17-year-old daughter was located hiding under the kitchen sink. The girl had an active juvenile warrant for violating conditions of supervised release after removing an electronic monitoring device.

The agents also observed superficial wounds on the teenager’s arms and legs.

The dogs were removed from the property

Three dogs that remained inside the home were removed by preserve watch over animal due to conditions considered unsuitable for the animals.

Until now, authorities have not reported where the minors were located after the mother’s arrest.

Ashley Rogers was transported to the Allen County Jail and appeared in court on three counts of neglect of a dependent.

If convicted, she could face up to 18 years in prison. His next court hearing is scheduled for June.
