Javier Bardemactor known for his participation in stories such as “Dune” and “Goya’s Ghosts”, is preparing to add one more project to his filmography. This is the film “Bunker”, directed by Florian Zeller and in which he shares credits with his wife, Penélope Cruz.
In an interview with Diversity magazine, the Spaniard opened up about the experience of sharing the scene with the mother of his children, describing it as an exercise in steadiness with his personal life.
According to Bardem’s testimony, the filming of “Bunker” brought with it various moments of coincidence with his marriage in real life, since the characters they play are in a relationship within the story.
“It helps us see each other again because sometimes you are so immersed in the daily routine, in the children and in the house, that you ask yourself: ‘When do you sit down and look into each other’s eyes again? When do you start to breathe again and connect with the other person?'”said the famous 57-year-old.
Likewise, within the talk he recalled that this is not the first time that he has shared credits in a production with his wife Penélope Cruz. Their chemistry on screen dates back to 1992, when they worked on the film “Jamón, Jamón” and years later, in 2008, they shined again in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.
With this wide range of experiences together, both celebrities have been able to evolve positively both professionally and personally. “We have worked together at different times, on different films, at different stages. Now we are forced to sit, look at each other, listen to each other and be in emotional contact for many hours”he stressed.
In this sense, he confessed that despite the challenges that any marriage entails, their relationship remains solid thanks to an important rule: “At home we don’t talk much about work. We don’t have posters or photos or anything that reminds us of what we do for a living. We try to compartmentalize life and fiction. We don’t waste much time talking about work, although we love what we do”he explained.
In addition to this recipe for a harmonious marriage, Javier Bardem is clear that admiration for his partner is essential to staying in love: “Penelope is an incredible, beautiful and good person; the way she relates to her family, with her friends, with our children, with me, with herself. Many years have passed and I have not seen a trace of malice in her”he told the publication.
In conclusion, he noted: “She is a woman with whom I feel very lucky to have met in life (…) Furthermore, she is incredibly beautiful! When I see her photographed in some magazines, I think: ‘Is she my wife? My God, is that her?! She has to be!'”
