The Met Gala 2026 carpet was once again dressed in fantasy, and one of the most talked about appearances of the night was, without a doubt, that of supermodel and presenter Heidi Klum.
True to her reputation for transforming herself for the occasion, Klum paraded Monday night in an exclusive design by artist Mike Marino, which paid homage to the classic sculpture.
The dress, made from a mix of latex and spandex, managed to turn the model into a “living sculpture”. According to Sort, the optical illusion made the public perceive how the stone was carved in right timea clear reference to masterpieces such as the “Veiled Christ” by Giuseppe Sanmartino and the “Veiled Vestal” by Raffaele Monti.

Theme of the year
Klum wasn’t the only star to shine on fashion’s biggest night. Other celebrities such as Connor Storie, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Emma Chamberlain also paraded in outfits that explored the relationship between textiles and artistic expression.
This year’s theme, “Fashion is Art,” is directly tied to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new Costume Institute exhibition. Curated by Andrew Bolton, the exhibition “Costume Art Work” examines “the centrality of the clothed body”, and displays pieces from the museum’s collection with historical and contemporary clothing.
The exhibition will be open to the public from May 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027.
This year’s gala is co-chaired by a luxury quartet: Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and the legendary Anna Wintour, director of Vogue.
As for the organizing committee, those in charge of leading it are Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz, accompanied by a diverse group of figures that includes Sabrina Chippie, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa (newly appointed Editorial Content Director at Vogue US), Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson and Yseult.
Financial support for the gala and exhibition is provided by title sponsors Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, along with Saint Laurent and Condé Nast.
