In the midst of an effort to continue modernizing its restaurants, fast food chain McDonald’s has been discreetly and progressively eliminating self-service soft drink vending machines in different locations of the country.
According to a company statement, the objective of these changes is to adapt to the new consumption habits of its customers, who are increasingly leaning toward drive-thru and home service rather than consumption within the same premises, so it is expected that the transition will be completely achieved in 2023 as the restaurants are remodeled.
Although for the chain specializing in hamburgers this change is a step towards modernization, for customers it is a readjustment to the self-service convenience to which they were already accustomed.
While self-service stations, especially beverage stations, have characterized many fast food restaurants in recent years, Now the modality of the new establishments is to prepare the customer’s drink behind the counter, this in order to maintain a watch over the inventory, portions, cleaning and maintenance of these self-service machines; while prioritizing efficiency and digital orders.
McDonald’s launches a line of specialty drinks
On the other hand, McDonald’s recently expanded its beverage menu by introducing new flavors of soft drinks and craft sodas, which will be available starting next Wednesday, May 6.
Among the new flavors that can be enjoyed are: Mango Pineapple Refresher, Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher, Strawberry Watermelon Refresher, Sprite Berry Blast, Orange Dream and Dirty Dr Pepper. “Six fresh flavors for different moods, moments and styles: there is a drink for every vibe,” the statement highlights.
Additionally, customers will also be able to get limited edition drink-inspired coasters designed by Susan Alexandra; each includes a $10 McDonald’s Arch Card to enjoy the experience.
