A Mexican couple was arrested on charges of shoplifting after being caught purchasing LEGO product itemsremoving the figures from inside and subsequently returning the boxes for refunds, according to investigators in Orange County.
Adriana Esquerra González, 29 years old, and Luis Alfredo Quintanilla Pompa, 30 years oldboth originally from Tijuana, Mexico, were identified by authorities as those responsible for the theft.
According to him Irvine Police Department (IPD)the couple Esquerra González and Quintanilla Poma were initially seen purchasing LEGO items at a Goal store and immediately returning them to the stores without the figures included.

Detectives said that an investigation discovered that the Mexican couple visited five other stores on the same day and in all of them used the same method: stealing the figures from inside the packages to later demand a full refund.
“The agents searched his car. and found several stolen LEGO pieces“the IPD said in a social media post.

Irvine authorities reported that Esquerra González and Quintanilla Pompa were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.
The Irvine Police Department said the case remains under investigation.
