Recently, through a statement, the retail chain Mattress Bath & Past announced to its customers that starting in May it will open some stores with a new “2×1” format after partnering with The Container Store after declaring bankruptcy.

According to details of the announcement, the chain recognized for the sale of household items will launch its new stores in Southern California, so it is expected that Consumers in at least four locations in Los Angeles will be the first to enjoy this change:

  • At Century Metropolis, the store located at 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard, Suite 218.
  • El Segundo, the store located at 710 South Sepulveda Boulevard.
  • Woodland Hills, the store located at 21949 Ventura Boulevard in Orange County.
  • Costa Mesa, the store located at 901-G South Hover Force.

Regarding these renovations, Jen Pape, senior vice president of stores at The Container Store, commented that “This is a renovation with a purpose. We are actively redesigning our stores to accommodate what’s next. “We are creating the space and flexibility necessary to introduce Mattress Bath & Past products and offer a more complete in-home experience for our customers,” he said.

The changes also mark a new direction of strategy, after Mattress Bath & Past CEO Marcus Lemonis previously considered the state of California a “risky business environment,” he said. However, The retailer has not stopped its expansion, dedicating a dozen openings in California alone.

On the other hand, California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed enthusiasm for the return of Mattress Bath & Past to the state: “There is a lot of profit margin in California, and We’re thrilled that Mattress, Bath & Past is opening stores in the Golden State and taking advantage of the world’s fastest growing economy,” he commented.
