The transfer market is beginning to move in Europe and one of the clubs that is already making changes to its squad is AC Milan. The Italian institution would have made progress in efforts to strengthen its attack for next season, with the intention of adding a new piece that will raise the competitive level up front.
The name that appears on the radar is that of the Norwegian Alexander Sorloth. According to reports from the Italian newspaper The Gazzetta dello Sport, The attacker would have already given his approval to a possible transfer, which puts the ‘rossonero’ team in a favorable position to begin formal talks with Atlético de Madrid.
The operation, however, is not simple.
A signing conditioned by the economic aspect
The fundamental obstacle lies in the economic differences between both clubs. An initial offer close to the 20 million euros plus variablesa figure that could fall short compared to the investment that Atlético made two years ago, when it paid 32 million fixed plus another 10 million in variables to acquire the forward.
This context forces Milan to measure their movements cautiously. The board would not be willing to spend excessively, which could slow down negotiations or even open the door to other alternatives in the market.
The Italian club is also evaluating other names to reinforce its attack. Options still on the table include Robert Lewandowski, Nicolas Jackson and Dusan Vlahovic, which shows that sports planning considers different scenarios before making a final decision.
More competition in the Rossonera forward
The possible arrival of Sørloth would have a direct impact on the team’s offensive structure, especially in relation to Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican forward joined Milan in February 2025 from Feyenoord, after an operation worth close to 35 million euros, and signed a contract until June 2029.
With an estimated salary of around $3 million per season, Giménez is part of the club’s long-term project. However, the incorporation of another attacker with a linked profile would imply an increase in internal competition for minutes and prominence.
The Milan leadership seeks to anticipate possible market movements, especially given the risk that an outstanding performance by Sørloth in the next World Cup will increase its value. For this reason, the club would try to close the operation in the coming weeks, although without neglecting other available alternatives.
The stage remains open, with negotiations that have not yet formally begun, but with clear signs that Milan is working to strengthen its offensive squad for the next campaign.
