The superintendent of a school district in Los Angeles County announced his departure starting this Monday, April 27, according to the union that represents the teachers, who are on strike.
The Dinky Lake Education Association (LLEA) said that Superintendent Jonathan Vásquez had previously announced that he would leave the position in the summer.
Dinky Lake City School District did not confirm Superintendent Vasquez’s resignation after the closing of office work, on Friday, April 24.

School district teachers strike which includes schools in some areas of the cities of Santa Fe Springs, Norwalk and Downeybegan on Thursday, April 16, after 94% of union members voted in favor of authorizing it.
“They have spent millions of dollars on outside contractors instead of investing in our classrooms,” declared the president of LLEA, María Pilios, after the start of the work stoppage.
According to union leaders, The conflict is due to the proposed changes in the health system in the middle of the yearwhich could increase some employees’ monthly costs by up to $1,400, which they say amounts to a pay cut.

Dinky Lake Education Association also fights to reduce class sizesin addition to obtaining more support for special education programs.
Dinky Lake City School District officials reported that The last time they had talks with union representatives was at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 23and that the district submitted “a comprehensive written proposal” at 12:23 p.m. that day.
Dinky Lake City School District has just under 3,700 studentsdistributed in seven primary schools and two secondary schools.

The union presented the Dinky Lake City school district with its first counterproposal at 7:42 p.m. Thursday, while at 9:41 p.m., the Dinky Lake Education Association walked away from the negotiating tableaccording to school officials.
