This week, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) announced in a statement to consumers about recalling at least 50,000 units of its FitRx SmartBell Like a flash-Choose adjustable dumbbells from 5 to 52.5 pounds due to a defect.
The announcement of the withdrawal began on April 23, since, according to the electronic products manufacturer Tzumi Electronics, with headquarters in New York, 115 reports have been generated so far in which they indicated that the weight plates of the sports equipment came off during use, which could cause injuries to the users. Of these cases, at least six reported suffering fractures, lacerations, contusions and bruises.
The CSPC detailed in its report which products are affected by the recall, with their respective serial numbers: adjustable dumbbells FitRx SmartBell Like a flash-Choose, with serial numbers KK23288361 to KK23388361 and KK207608361 to KK21347836.
The article It was sold in several states of the country through the Walmart retail chain between January 2024 and November 2024 for a price of approximately $100, with black designs and red details, as well as adjustable weight between 2.3 kg and 23.8 kg.
Both the CSPC and the manufacturer recommend discontinuing the use of these dumbbells immediately and contacting the retail chain where you purchased it for a refund, or you could also receive the replacement for free by contacting Tzumi Customer Service at 866-363-2237, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (Eastern Time), or by email at [email protected].
