Returning a product purchased online used to involve time, trips and lines. Now, Uber Eats seeks to change that dynamic with a new function that allows you to manage returns from home with the help of a delivery personfacilitating the entire process for the user.
This April 17, Uber announced the launch of this new returns tool, which is now available in your application. With it, customers can return eligible items purchased on Uber Eats without having to go to a physical store.
“For the first time in the on-demand home delivery sector, Customers will now be able to return items who meet the requirements and have purchased on Uber Eats, and receive an instant refund“The company explained in a statement. “They only have to request the return in the Uber Eats application and a courier will pick it up for a fee.”
How is a return made?
The procedure is simple:
- First, the user must access their order history within the app.
- There you will find the option “Return an merchandise”.
- Then, select the product you want to return and specify the reason.
- If the item meets the merchant’s return policies and is eligible, The next step is to choose “Return with a courier”.
- From that moment on, A courier will come to the home to collect the package.
One of the most attractive points is the speed of the refund. Uber points out that this starts as soon as the delivery person picks up the item. However, the time the money appears in the account may vary depending on the bank.
The reimbursement covers:
- The price of the product.
- Applicable taxes.
- The Uber Eats service fee.
On the other hand, Delivery costs and tips are not included in the return..
Rates and requirements
Despite being a new function within the Uber Eats app, the service is not free. Returns through a delivery person have a rate that is calculated based on time and distance traveled. Even so, the company presents it as a convenient alternative to transportation or parking costs.
Another point to consider: Not all products can be returned with this method. Only items with a minimum value of $20 dollars apply, always subject to the policies of each store within the platform.
Stores and availability
In its initial release, the feature is available in thousands of retail stores in the United States. Participating retailers include chains such as Most attention-grabbing Buy, Dick’s Wearing Items and Petco. Uber also announced that it plans to add more commercial partners in the near future.
Furthermore, it must be remembered that The company already had another logistics tool called “send items.”which allows you to send prepaid and sealed packages to courier services, such as the United States Postal Service (USPS), FedEx or UPS, launched in October 2023. With this new returns function, it reinforces its commitment to expand its services beyond food delivery.
Although this option offers greater convenience, Users can still choose to return their products directly to the store at no additional cost.which keeps an alternative open for those who prefer to do it on their own.
