Surprises do not stop raining at CinemaCon 2026 and the most recent of them came from the hand of Paramount Photos. The entertainment giant confirmed the development of “Prime Gun 3” and the return of Tom Cruise to the saga to resume his role as the protagonist.
According to the announcement released during the Paramount Photos presentation at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, The third installment of the successful franchise will return to the screens under the production of Jerry Bruckheimerresponsible for the two previous films.
“’Prime Gun 3′ is officially in development with a fairly advanced script, reuniting Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer”declared the co-directors of the study, Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg before a room with more than 6 thousand attendees.
Another name confirmed during the presentation was that of screenwriter Ehren Kruger, who lent his pen to “Prime Gun: Maverick” and now he resumes this work in a script that “already presents important advances.”
Although Paramount has not revealed the identity of the director who will bring Tom Cruise’s new adventure to theaters, Reports suggest that it would be filmmaker Joseph Kosinski who is being targeted by the studio to take the helm. This after having directed the sequel to the saga and having exceeded expectations.
In addition, it was announced that the cast for “Prime Gun 3” could bring together stars such as Miles Teller and Glen Powell, who played the new generation of pilots in the installment released in 2022.
Tom Cruise surprises at CinemaCon 2026 with the new preview of “Digger”
The Hollywood heartthrob’s name not only made headlines due to the news of his return in “Prime Gun 3”, he also did so thanks to the exclusive look at his new film with Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, “Digger”.
This trailer showed for the first time on screen the physical transformation that the famous man underwent to give life to the emblematic Digger Rockwell.
The images caused a stir among the audience due to the actor’s unrecognizable appearance; Unlike his characteristic athletic demeanor and brown hair, he reappeared with gray hair, a robust build, a prosthetic nose and a southern accent.
Regarding this project, scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 2, Tom Cruise stated: “These types of films are the reason why I wanted to make films (…) It took me 40 years to put on Digger Rockwell’s boots”explained the “Mission: Impossible” star before presenting the preview.
