American actor Tom Cruise and filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu have unveiled the first preview of the film “Digger”, scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026. The trailer showed for the first time on screen the physical transformation that the famous man underwent to give life to the emblematic Digger Rockwell.

The presentation of the official teaser took place at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada, an event in which The Hollywood heartthrob and the Mexican director met to share some details about the experience during filming.

These types of films are the reason why I wanted to make films (…) It took me 40 years to put on Digger Rockwell’s boots“explained the ‘Mission Impossible’ star before presenting the trailer.

The images caused a stir among the audience due to the actor’s unrecognizable appearance. Unlike his characteristic athletic demeanor and brown hair, he reappeared with gray hair, a robust build, a prosthetic nose and a southern accent.

The reason behind this transformation? Tom Cruise plays Digger Rockwella man dedicated to oil who, according to the film’s plot, must save the world from a catastrophe that he himself caused.

A drilling into the Greenland ice shelf that his own company created causes massive icebergs to collapse, threatening the lives of billions of people worldwide.including a nuclear war,” reads the official synopsis.

The film’s cast is completed by Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed, Emma D’Arcy and John Goodmanto mention a few.

In addition to this top-notch cast, “Digger” has generated expectations among the public because it marks the return of the acclaimed director behind films like “Birdman” and “Babel”, Alejandro González Iñárrituwho for this project collaborated with the writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris.
