The vice president J.D. Vance publicly acknowledged that young voters are not aligned with the president’s foreign policy donald trumpparticularly with regard to conflicts in the Middle East.

During an event organized by Turning Level USA in Athens, Georgia, Vance admitted that there is a generational gap around issues such as the war in Gaza and the tension with Iran. “I recognize that young voters don’t like the politics we have in the Middle East, okay? I understand that,” he told the audience.

The event was not without tension

According to reports from The New York Instances, the vice president was booed just ten minutes after starting his participation. Among the screams, an assistant shouted slogans such as: “Jesus Christ does not support genocide!” and “They are killing children! They are bombing children!” in apparent reference to the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Despite the adverse environment, Vance defended the Trump administration’s decisionsarguing that, although young people may disagree, it is important that they stay involved in the political debate. “I’m not saying you have to agree with me on every issue. What I’m saying is don’t disassociate yourself just because you don’t disagree on an issue,” he said. “Get more involved. Make your voice heard even more.”

According to information from Linked Press, the vice president also addressed religious and political issues, including recent tensions between Trump and Pope Leo XIV. The Pontiff has been critical of military actions abroad, while Trump has accused him of weakness.

In that context, Vance — who is the second Catholic vice president in the country’s history — adopted a more conciliatory tone. He pointed out that dialogue with the Pope is valuablealthough he stressed that each actor must remain within his scope. “It is important that the Pope be very careful when he speaks about matters of theology, just as I must be in public policy,” he said.

This episode reflects a growing gap between government policies and the perceptions of younger voters, especially on international issues. Analysts agree that this segment will be key in future electionswhich could force the administration to rethink its narrative.
