After the recent criticism generated by the advice that the steady Omit Universothe Mexican Fátima Bosch, offered beauty contest hopefuls, the organization of the contest stepped up to avoid misunderstandingsthis through communication with Of us.

The controversy arose after the “Women who Transform” forum, held at the end of March in Santa Tecla, El Salvador. There, Bosch, 25 years old and crowned on November 21, 2025, was questioned by a member of the public. What recommendation would you give to women considering participating in a beauty pageant?.

His response generated controversy:

“Well, honestly, I wouldn’t advise anyone to participate in a beauty pageant.”

The sovereign went on to explain that the impact of the crown depends entirely on who wears it.. “If you have an important project, something you want to give visibility to, and you consider this platform as a tool to achieve it, then go ahead,” he said.

He even revealed that his own experience was not a traditional path: “To be honest, and I believe God put me here, I certainly didn’t choose to participate in the traditional sense.”

Bosch also spoke about the challenges he has faced since his victory, calling the experience “terrifying.” “For me, it has been very difficult… mainly because these contests are not used to a ‘steady’ woman: a woman who does not fit the exact measurements they demand, or a woman who really has her own voice,” he declared.

What did the Omit Universo organization say?

Given the impact of these statements, the organization Omit Universo decided to speak out. In a statement provided exclusively to Of us magazine, Miguel Ángel Martínez, spokesperson for the contest, expressed:

“Fatima’s recent statements have been the subject of various interpretations on different platforms. She clarified that her intention was not to discourage participation in beauty pageants or question their value, but rather to emphasize that it is one of the many avenues available for women to express their voice, purpose and ambitions.”

The organization recalled that “for more than seven decades, Omit Universo has served as an international platform that supports and exalts women in various fields.”

A reign marked by controversy

Bosch’s statements are not an isolated event. His path to the crown and his subsequent reign have been dotted with controversy. The most notable occurred in early November, when he confronted pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil during a pre-pageant event in Thailand.

And after that, his statements have caused prominent figures in Mexico to also speak out, such as the first Mexican Omit Universo, Lupita Jones, who said, in an interview in La Mesa Caliente: “It is not the first time that in one of these exhibitions the work that previous cross over universes we have done with this title is denigrated.”

Jones referred to Bosch’s same statements about beauty pageants. After that, the steady Omit Universo clarified that its intention was not to discredit the contest.
