American commercial airline Delta Air Lines recently announced an adjustment to checked baggage fees due in part to the increase in fuel consumption, in addition to “the evolution of global conditions and the dynamics of the sector,” he indicated.
According to the statement, starting this week, The fee for checking the first and second bags will increase by $10, while the amount for a third bag will increase by $50.. This will apply, depending on the airline, for some domestic and short-haul international flights, but long-haul international flights will keep rates unchanged.
This increase is the first that the company has made in more than two years. In this sense, the rates of the airline with its primary headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and one of the oldest in the United States will be as follows:
- First suitcase: $45
- Second suitcase: $55
- Third suitcase: $200
