Charli XCX’s new abilities are getting closer. The singer, who achieved massive fame in 2024 with her acclaimed album “Brat,” revealed on Monday that his seventh studio work will be titled “Tune, Fashion, Film” and will be released on July 24.

The announcement came as a surprise through his Instagram account, where he published the album cover: a black and white image showing John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese, each representing one of the three disciplines of the title. “My new album, Tune, Fashion, Film, comes out on July 24,” wrote the artist. “11 songs, 30 minutes, 5 seconds. You can pre-order it now. I love you! xx.”

A sound that breaks with the established

The electropop artist, known for her danceable beats and signature use of Auto-Tune, He already announced that this new topic topic will be very different to everything he has done before. In a cover interview for British Vogue in April, Charli stated, “For me, it’s fun to turn the formula on its head. We know there will be people who are upset, but that’s okay.”

Two singles have been released so far: “Rock Tune” and “SS26”. The title of the album is taken precisely from a phrase from this last song, where Charli sings: “We are walking down a catwalk that goes straight to hell / Nothing will save us, not music, not fashion, not cinema.”

The first single, “Rock Tune”, has already ignited controversy. Followers and critics argue about whether the singer’s new sound can really be classified as rock ‘n’ roll. Chris Willman, Diversity’s leading music critic, wrote in a review: “The tone of the song leans more towards electronic than guitar, but not to the point that the title seems like a lie.”

Willman added that the most immediate debate is not so much whether the song is rock, but whether it is really intended as the first single. “It falls on the experimental side of Charli’s work, he explained, although at this point in her popularity she could be ready to turn the uncommercial into a commercial, with or without a song suitable for radio or television.”

For now, fans will be able to hear the entire sound of the album on July 24.
