The crew of the Artemis II mission successfully began the return trajectory correction maneuver (RTCB), a key action to precisely adjust the Orion capsule’s return trajectory to Earth.

The Orion astronauts successfully fired the capsule’s engines at 8:03 a.m. ET, the first of three operations to correct its return trajectory.

Depending on the mission setting, The crew’s first trajectory correction was executed successfully.

The RTCB maneuver is a simple propulsion adjustment that allows the space capsule to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere at an angle that allows a safe landing later.

Destination: California

NASA also said today that it foresees favorable weather for Orion americe on Friday in the Pacific Ocean near the coast of San Diego, California. They are scheduled to be picked up by the US Navy ship USS John Murtha.

This Tuesday, the seventh of the Artemis II mission, Orion left the sphere of influence of the Moon and its four astronauts began their return to Earth after orbiting the satellite on Monday.

NASA considers that the observation of the farthest side of the Moon and the rest of the findings of this mission will help future projects in the United Stateshow to install an imperfect lunar and the future human exploration of Mars.
