This unexpected confession about his experience as the son of Eugenio Derbez and Victoria Ruffo occurred in the most recent episode of his podcast “Mixologando”, where the topic of the term “nepo itsy-bitsy one” was addressed.
According to the actor’s words, He considers himself part of this select group of people, since it is “someone whose parents are dedicated to something and they are dedicated to the same thing.”
Bluntly, the protagonist of “El Tío” assured that in his experience it was not something positive: “Many doors have been closed to me. (…) In many jobs, if the man has a law firm or owns a health center, his children work there. They don’t see that as bad as in this environment,” he said.
For the son of Victoria Ruffo and Eugenio Derbez, it was difficult to distance himself from the achievements attributed to his surnames and demonstrate his ability to forge his own legacy.
“They demand more from you, there are comparisons. It’s not something ugly, but I feel that people call it ugly (…) I think we shouldn’t judge ourselves so much”he added during the episode.
Despite the bittersweet experience, the opportunity to become a father to his little Tessa has given him a different perspective on the life and childhood he had. Today, the artist is more than clear that his priority is not public recognition, but rather present and loving fatherhood.
