DEA seizes thousands of narcotic pills in MacArthur Park

A joint operation between federal and local police agencies that took place this Wednesday in MacArthur Park, in Los Angeles, resulted in the seizure of thousands of illegal narcotic pills and more than $10,000 in cash.

The police activity was carried out by agents of the Los Angeles Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and other agencies, as part of Operation “Free MacArthur Park.”

This initiative seeks dismantle the supply, trafficking and public consumption of fentanyl and methamphetaminein addition to addressing crime and safety issues in the neighborhood.

According to the authorities, The operation also resulted in the arrest of three people for selling narcotics (serious crime).four warrant arrests and five misdemeanor violations related to living together at MacArthur Park.

DEA Los Angeles Division Special Agent in Charge Anthony Chrysanthis stated that the agency remains committed to reduce drug-related activity and related crimes in the area.

“The DEA strongly supports our efforts to return MacArthur Park to the community“said Special Agent Chrysanthis.

“Working together with the Los Angeles Police Department and other local and federal partners, we will continue taking decisive action to disrupt illicit narcotics activity and crime related that has plagued this community for too long,” he added.

The DEA special agent mentioned that Law enforcement members received positive feedback from residents and workers while patrolling the area during the operation.

“While our agents were patrolling the area, received numerous thanks and gestures of approvaleven bus drivers,” he said.

“Authorities described Operation Free MacArthur Park as an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking, street drug use and criminal activity related in the Los Angeles park area.

This is not the first time that federal and local agents They carry out an operation in MacArthur Park against the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Last Thursday, Operation Free MacArthur Park resulted in the arrest of more than a dozen people.
