According to documents published by the Department of the Inside of, The construction of the Independence Arch proposed by President Donald Trump to be ready in the shortest possible time would involve daily work days of up to 20 hours for a period of nearly three years.
The specifications of the project promoted by the president to build the so-called Independence Arch make the work seem complex to carry out, especially due to the effort and time it will require.
The seventy-nine-year-old Republican stated that the nation required a monument endowed with certain characteristics to be identified by American citizens as a symbol of national pride.
And from this, he requested design proposals that in size would exceed the dimensions of the Arc de Triomphe built in France.
In addition, he specified that the work should be built on the Arlington, Virginia side, near the Memorial Bridge over the Potomac River, between the entrances to the National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial.
The proposal by Harrison Make, a Washington architecture firm, focuses on a 76-meter-high arch.
Another point to note is that the arch would be built with concrete and would have a granite finish.
“It would require several tower cranes, forklifts, skid steers, drilling equipment and concrete pumping systems.
The work would be performed year-round, in two shifts of 10 hours a day (20 hours a day, year-round) during the construction period,” state National Park Service documents submitted to the federal registry.
During the entire estimated time to build the Independence Arch, traffic chaos would be generated on the Arlington Memorial Bridge and on Arlington Boulevard.
However, that seems to be a secondary issue for the head of the nation and those who repeatedly cross through said site should get used to it, since the interests of the nation will always be above any plea from a civilian.
A few weeks ago, Don Beyer, representative of Virginia, attacked Donald Trump for considering that he is wasting money on an unnecessary project, at least at this moment.
“President Trump is focused on a taxpayer-funded vanity project that would back up traffic, block our skyline, and loom over sacred ground where those who served our nation are buried,” he wrote on platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
