Mexico vs. South Africa
The opening match of the 2026 World Cup has historical overtones. The commitment will be developed in the legendary Azteca Stadiuma sports venue that will become the first stadium to host three opening matches of a World Cup (1970, 1986 and 2026).
Directed by Javier Aguirre, Mexico arrives at the World Cup in promising form. El Tri is undefeated in eight consecutive games and They come from beating Serbia 5-1 in their last friendly match.
South Africa, led by Hugo Broos, comes from a more discreet preparation. The African team drew 1-1 with Jamaica in their last friendly match at the beginning of June.
