The Mexican team will face a complex challenge in the 2026 World Cup. El Tri will be one of the hosts in this World Cup and has the objective of doing a good job in the tournament. Raul Jimenez He is one of the most experienced forwards that Javier Aguirre will have. But Jiménez has not done well in this tournament.
In general terms, Raúl Jiménez has played 125 games with the Mexican team. The Fulham forward has been able score 44 goals and concede 16 assists in more than 7,800 minutes on the field. But Jiménez’s record is not “inflated” in the World Cups.
Raúl Jiménez has played in 3 World Cups with the Mexican team. The Aztec forward has participated in the World Cup editions: Brazil 2014, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022. As a curious fact, Jiménez has not been able to score a goal, nor has he played a game as a starter.
Jiménez’s record in World Cups
In Brazil 2014, Raúl Jiménez had his first participation in a World Cup. The former Águilas del América forward was 23 years old in this edition of the World Cup. Jiménez only played 6 minutes in this World Cup (he replaced Giovani dos Santos in the 84th minute in the duel against Brazil).
His second participation in a World Cup was in Russia 2018. For this tournament Jiménez arrived with more experience, but without the confidence of Juan Carlos Osorio. Javier “Chicharito” Hernández was the starting forward in this tournament.
Raúl Jiménez only participated in 2 matches. The Mexican attacker played 34 minutes against the German team and played another 20 minutes against Brazil in the round of 16 of the tournament.
The most recent precedent was in the World Cup Qatar 2022. The Aztec forward played 3 games, all from the substitute bench. Jiménez played 19 minutes against Poland; 13 minutes against Saudi Arabia and 24 minutes against Argentina.
