The acting state president, Gavin Newsom, and the former vice president of the United States, Kamala Harrisspoke out in support of the Democratic candidate Xavier Becerra for governor of California in the November general elections.
Newsom and Harris’ statements were released after the confirmation that Republican Steve Hilton will be Becerra’s rival in the general election after obtaining second place in the June 2 primaries.

After counting 90.5% of the ballots counted, Xavier Becerra is in the lead with 27.9% (2,390,780 votes)followed by Hilton with 25% (2,137,993 votes).

“Xavier Becerra has the experience and determination California needs. He will stand up to Donald Trump, defend our families, and keep our state moving forward. It’s time to get to work and help him win in November,” Newsom said on social media.
