Canada men’s national team announced this Tuesday the incorporation of Jayden Nelson to your template for 2026 World Cup to replace Marcelo Floreswho will be out due to injury.
Canada explained that Nelson, a player for Austin FC of the Fundamental League Soccer (MLS), will occupy the Plaza de Flores after the Tigres UANL attackerof Liga MX, underwent surgery on June 5 to repair a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
Flores suffered the injury during the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup finala setback that will prevent him from participating in the tournament that Canada will play as one of the host teams.
Nelson, 23, is having a good time with Austin FC in the MLS and joins the Canadian team a few days before the debut of the team led by Jesse Marsch in the World Cup.
Flores’ loss represents a shimmering loss for Canada due to the player’s offensive versatility, who could act both as a winger and as a midfielder and who had been a regular part of the team’s recent calls.
