América says goodbye to Jonathan dos Santos

The Eagles of America officially announced the departure of Jonathan dos Santos of the club. The forward born in Monterrey was able to expand a successful career with multiple trophies with the azulcrema team. Dos Santos responded in Liga MX.

Jonathan dos Santos ended his time with the Águilas del América. The club recognized the dedication of the former FC Barcelona player. Dos Santos closed his time at the club after four seasons.

“We have nothing left but thank you for everything we achieved togetherfor always giving your all on the court and completely dedicating yourself with passion to our shirt. You leave as a Three-time Champion and an icon in our history. Like a Captain and the living representation of what it is to be an Eagle. Much success in all your future projects, America will always be your home,” the club wrote.

In his last tournament with the Águilas del América, Jonathan dos Santos played 16 games. The Mexican forward was on the court for approximately 970 minutes. Dos Santos could only contribute a goal assist in his club’s 1-0 victory against Monterrey.

A footprint in America

In January 2022, Jonathan dos Santos left the Los Angeles Galaxy to have his first adventure in Liga MX with the Águilas del América. Since then, the Mexican midfielder played up to 165 games.

Jonathan dos Santos played nearly 8,890 minutes on the field. The former FC Barcelona player contributed with 1 goal and 5 assists for the cause of the azulcrema team.

The only goal that Jonathan dos Santos has been able to score in the Liga MX was in the Apertura 2023. On matchday 14 of the tournament, Dos Santos scored the tying goal in América’s 1-2 victory over Rayos del Necaxa.

Jonathan dos Santos increased the titles obtained in his career. The midfielder born in Monterrey added six trophies for his career. Dos Santos won three Liga MX, one Campeón de Campeones, one Liga MX Super Cup and one Campeones Cup.
