The president of the United States, Donald Trump, He called the recent primary elections held in California “manipulated” and stated, without providing evidence, that “fraud” is being committed in the state due to the delay in the publication of the final results.
“Do you think it’s appropriate that they have an election and five days later they’re not even close to choosing a winner?” Trump criticized during an interview with NBC Data. thus referring to the legitimacy of the electoral process after the delay in the counting of the votes from the elections held last Tuesday.
When asked if he had tangible evidence to support his accusation, the president responded: “All I have to do is watch.”.
California law stipulates that, under its vote-by-mail system, ballots postmarked on or before Election Day can be legally counted if they are received up to seven days after the election.
According to local media projections, Democrat Xavier Becerra is poised to advance to the traditional race for governor of California.while his Republican rival is yet to be defined between tycoon Tom Steyer and former Fox Data collaborator Steve Hilton, the latter publicly supported by Trump himself.
This is not the first time that Trump has attacked the vote in California, since on his networks he has claimed this week, without showing evidence, that the Democrats have cheated in the primary elections.
Trump noted that Democrats “are trying to steal” the California gubernatorial and Los Angeles mayoral primaries from Republican candidates.despite the fact that the latest partial results show a close competition in both races.
In addition, the president assured on his networks that the US Department of Justice would be investigating the electoral process in that state, the most populous in the country and a traditional Democratic fiefdom.
