The former private assistant of actor Matthew Perry, Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced this Wednesday to three years and five months in prison for his role in the overdose death of the star of the television series “Visitors.”
In August 2024, 60-year-old Iwamasa pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketaminea narcotic from which Perry overdosed at his Pacific Palisades residence on October 28, 2023.

The actor’s former assistant was sentenced to 41 months in federal prisontwo years of probation and a fine of $10,000.

Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrisonwent to the Federal Court in Los Angeles this Wednesday to be present at Iwamasa’s sentencing hearing.

According to a statement, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said that Iwamasa bought the ketamine doses and repeatedly injected them into Perryincluding the three doses that caused his death in October 2023.
Prosecutors said Iwamasa had known Perry since 1992 and that became your personal assistant in 2022.

“In that position, he received a salary of $150,000 annually and had various responsibilities, including coordinating Perry’s medical care. and ensure that you took the medications legally prescribed by your treating doctors“said the prosecution.
“Iwamasa is not a doctor and has no experience or training in that field.. “In addition, I was aware of Perry’s long history of drug addiction,” he added.
In their arguments, prosecutors claimed that Iwamasa, rather than helping Perry stay sober, He became his accomplice and drug supplier, which ultimately caused his death..

Perry was found dead by Iwamasa in the jacuzzi in the backyard of the actor’s residence in Pacific Palisades.
An autopsy performed by the Los Angeles County medical examiner determined that Perry died from acute effects of ketamine, with effects of drowning, coronary heart disease and buprenorphine. The actor’s death was declared unintentioned.

Iwamasa was the fifth and last person to be convicted in connection with Perry’s death.
Salvador Plasencia, one of the two doctors who pleaded guilty for distributing the ketamine to Perry, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
The other doctor involved in the case, Heed Chávez, heard a sentence of three years of supervised probation with a special condition of serving eight months of house arrest and performing 300 hours of community service.
