The Security Secretariat of the People of Chiapas held a meeting with representatives of the Israeli Embassy in Mexico with the objective of strengthening cooperation ties in security matters and strengthening the institutional relationship between both parties.

The meeting was headed by the head of the state agency, Oscar Alberto Aparicio Avendañoaccompanied by the Undersecretary of People’s Security, Álvaro Cuauhtémoc Serrano Escobedo, according to the Aristegui Noticias site.

Consul Hila Burg, attaché Zvi Michaeli and advisor Rocío Cervantes participated on behalf of the Israeli representation.

According to information released by state authorities, the meeting is part of the Chiapas government’s strategy to maintain communication with diplomatic representations accredited in Mexico and publicize the actions implemented in matters of public security.

During the meeting, Aparicio Avendaño stated that Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar’s instruction is to maintain a close relationship with consulates and embassies to offer security conditions and present progress in the entity.

Although no specific agreements were announced, the authorities indicated that there is a willingness to promote collaboration mechanisms and exchange of experiences on security, intelligence and crime prevention issues.

For her part, the Israeli consul in Mexico, Hila Burg, expressed confidence in the state’s security conditions and assured that Chiapas represents a safe destination for international visitors and representatives.

The relationship between Chiapas and Israeli security institutions is not new. Since previous years, meetings focused on technological cooperation, training and exchange of public security strategies have been documented.

The approach occurs in a context where different state governments seek to strengthen international ties to address challenges related to security, organized crime and technological modernization.
