Young man from New Jersey stabbed his grandmother and then called 911 to turn himself in

An 18-year-old New Jersey man is accused of murdering his grandmother after police, responding to a 911 call, found the 69-year-old woman dead in a second-floor bedroom with knives stuck in her face.

Louis Brown18, of Jackson Township, was charged May 18 with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Darlene Brown69, according to a news release from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police responded to a residence in Justin Plan around 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a murder, according to the release. Prosecutors indicated that Brown was the one who made the call.

Officers responding to the call found Brown at the front door of the residence. He left the house with his hands up and was immediately arrested. as officers investigated, according to the release.

Inside a second-floor bedroom, officers found Darlene Brown dead with apparent stab wounds to her face and neck, according to authorities.

Investigators also observed two knives stuck in the victim, according to prosecutors.

Brown was taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he remained in custody pending a detention hearing.
