The defense and civil rights organization of the Hispanic community UnidosUS published this Wednesday the result of a survey with the opinion of Hispanic voters in California six months before the 2026 midterm elections.
The survey of 3,000 active Hispanic voters offers a sample of economic concern, as well as concern about immigration actions that run both in California and across the country.
The data obtained in the survey offers a nuanced view of the feelings of Hispanic voters on the direction of the country, the economy and voter approval.

Priority: the economy
The survey conducted among California Hispanic voters shows that the economy is the top priority.
Latino voters want elected representatives to consider issues of the cost of food, basic living expenseswages, the cost of housing and health care.
The survey shows that 55% of respondents expect President Trump’s policies to make their situation worse next year.

86% of California Hispanic voters are concerned because Congress is not performing its check and balance rolein addition to ceding too much authority to the president and the Executive Branch.
At the state level, 71% disapprove of President Donald Trump’s actionsas a consequence of its responsibility for the increase in the cost of living, for the arrests and deportations against members of the immigrant community, for unemployment, the economy and the war with Iran.

Nearly three-quarters of California Hispanic voters (74%) believes that the country is on the wrong pathwhich draws attention because it is a population that is characterized by being optimistic.

Voting for the House of Representatives
Among Hispanic voters in the Golden State, if the House elections were held right now, 59% affirm that they would vote for the Democratic candidates compared to the 22% that showed support for the Republicans.
However, Both parties obtained a lower percentage of support than they registered in the 2024 electoral process, which may be an indication of voter discontent.
Civil rights
In relation to the defense of civil rights, 58% of Hispanic voters in California express that They do not have confidence that the federal government respects their rights.

64% of Latinos consider that their civil rights and liberties are less guaranteed under the Trump administration, compared to 17% who affirm that their rights are better guaranteed.
When questioned about military actions, 8 in 10 Hispanic voters believe Trump should be required to obtain congressional approval before initiating any military action against another country.
Two-thirds of those surveyed (66%) spoke out against the war in Iran and, in the same way, they oppose possible military action in Cuba.
